BALLYDEHOB NEW BUILD

PROJECT DETAILS

I meet with Brian & Vanessa in their home in Kilcoe, Ballydehob. There was an old stone cottage in bad repair on the site as well as the existing house. The existing house was small and was poorly laid out, so the 2 adult & 4 childern family holidays were a bit of a squeeze.
I was given a design brief to renovate and extend the existing derelict cottage and to make the most of the roaring water sea views! Vanessa was passionate about keeping the existing cottage and working the design around same. After agreement on the proposed deisgn, the planning permission proved very difficult but we got there in the end – persistence was the key!! Working drawings and tender documents were completed shortly after & PJ O’ Donovan Construction, Skibbereen was appointed the builder.
The main challenge with this house was the careful renovation the old cottage. We decided on a timber frame structure for many reasons and same was built on-site within weeks. The build went well and my clients had their first family holiday 9 months after the commencement date.
